Ela Wozniewska

Ela Wozniewska was born in Boleslawiec, Poland in 1960. Ela Wozniewska lives in Berlin as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. From 1980 she studied painting and graphic design at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts in the Katowice branch. From 1983 - 85 she studied graphic design at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin (West) and received her diploma. She worked with publishing houses (including Ullstein, Limes, Propyläen, Cornelsen and Bertelsmann), theatres and other enterprises - interrupted by a stay in Spain (Madrid), where she lived from 1991 - 99 and worked for various publishing houses and the Ministry of Culture. Here she created her first cryptographic picture cycles. She participates in international exhibitions. Back in Berlin, she works freelance for agencies, magazines and Buddy Bär Berlin GmbH.

Hermann Wadim

Wadim Hermann, a young artist from Berlin Lichtenberg, describes his art as “abstract surreal neo-expressionism”. Characterized by urban influences, it invites us to find our own history in it. Wadim opens a window onto cheerful days gone by as well as bleak lived experiences, creating a mosaic of collages and riddles that flow smoothly into one another. Hundreds of stories are told at the same time and always result in a big whole at the end. The hidden signs and symbols leave a mystical feeling of incomprehension, which keeps the scope for interpretation wide open and inspires reflection. The result is an enriching feeling of having learned something, because everyone is free to always see the best in everything.

Kurdpoor Gita

Geboren im kurdischen Teil des Irans, in der Stadt Bukan, zog Gita Kurdpoor im Alter von 2 Jahren mit ihrer Familie nach Minsk, Weißrussland. Mit 8 Jahren kam sie schließlich vor dem Fall der Berliner Mauer nach Berlin. Aufgewachsen in einem liberalen Haushalt, wurde sie zu einer unabhängigen und vor allem selbstbewussten Frau erzogen. Gita interessierte sich schon immer für die Schönheit und Andersartigkeit der Dinge. Der Blick für das Spezifische und das Besondere im Trivialen führte sie im Laufe der Jahre immer mehr zur Kunst. Als junge Frau arbeitete sie zunächst erfolgreich als Make-up-Künstlerin und hatte ihre eigenen Erfolge in der Branche, einschließlich einer eigenen Make-up-Show. In ihren Dreißigern entschied sie sich, der oberflächlichen Arbeit in der Schönheitsindustrie den Rücken zu kehren, um sich vollzeitig ihrer Kunst zu widmen. Trotz vieler Hürden ließ sie sich nicht davon abbringen und gab ihrer Kunst mehr Raum, indem sie sie individualisierte. Das Leben als Künstlerin auf Existenzminimum motivierte Gita, weiter an sich zu arbeiten und ihre Kunst zu stärken. Aufgeben war für sie keine Option. Gitas Kunst wird oft als orientalisch oder religiös interpretiert, wovon sie sich distanziert. Sie wählt ihre Farben und Motive intuitiv, ohne Vorgaben zu folgen, und möchte die Unvorhersehbarkeit und Vielseitigkeit des Lebens in ihrer Kunst widerspiegeln. Ihre Inspiration sind ihre eigenen Emotionen und Erfahrungen. Sie betont, dass jeder Betrachter etwas anderes in einem Bild sieht, was gut und wichtig sei, da jeder eine andere Emotion und einen anderen Standpunkt mitbringt. Kunst liegt im Auge des Betrachters, und Gita freut sich, wenn ihre Kunst bewegt.

Valeriu Kurtu

Valeriu Kurtu was born in 1956 in the small town of Ungeny on the Moldavian-Romanian border. He attended the Art School in Kishinev and then studied at the Academy of Cinematography (WGIK) in the Department of Animated Film in Moscow, graduating in 1982. In 1986 he became a member of FECO (Federation of Cartoonists Organisations).He completed the 2-year course in directing and screenwriting in Moscow in 1987. As a writer and director, he made seven animated films. At the same time, he published cartoons in essential magazines and caricature journals such as Krokodil (Russia), Eulenspiegel (Germany), Ursika (Romania) and in his home country Moldova in the magazine Ciparusch. In 1990 he joined the Art Association of the USSR and Moldova, and in 1994 he became a member of the Journalists' Association of Moldova.In 1994, when he was already a recognised artist, he moved to Berlin with his family.In 2003, he opened his gallery (KurtuKunst) with his wife, who is also an artist.For United Buddy Bears, he designs and creates motifs for the Berlin Buddy Bears.He has received more than 100 prizes, medals and awards in caricature competitions worldwide. Since 2010, he has organised and directed the "Berlin International Caricature Competition".
