How We Work Together – from Design to Finished Bear
From the blank to the finished brand-ambassador artwork, the process follows a structured, creative path. An individual design ensures that your sculpture fits your corporate identity perfectly. We accompany you every step of the way: from the first idea and the artistic realisation to safe installation on site. If you would like to have a Buddy Bear painted, you can either draw on our pool of experienced artists or submit your own design. Thanks to high-quality materials, the sculptures are extremely durable and optimally protected for outdoor installation.
The Path to Your One-of-a-Kind Bear:
Send your enquiry: first contact via the form. You start the project using our online form. Tell us your planned occasion, the sculpture format you would like, your timeframe and your first ideas for the motif.
Consultation: developing the concept. In a personal conversation we clarify any open questions about your preferred motif, the artistic direction and the conditions at the planned location.
Motif design: the creative phase. The visualisation of your bear begins. The design is created either by one of our professional artists or by your own agency or artist, based on the official templates.
Design approval: checking the guidelines. The finished design is reviewed by Buddy Bear Berlin to ensure that the design guidelines are met (for example, no purely large-scale advertising or logos).
Painting & sealing: handcraft and protection. Once approved, the sculpture is painted by hand. It then receives a professional two-component (2K) clear coat, which makes the bear weather-resistant and UV-resistant for outdoor use.
Delivery & installation: a secure stand. We deliver your bear including advice on safe installation. For indoor use we use an unobtrusive steel plate. For outdoor installation, a heavy concrete slab (approx. 140 kg) provides the necessary stability and theft protection.

Frequently Asked Questions about Working Together
The production time depends on the chosen motif, the level of detail and the current workload of our artists. As a rule, you should allow 4–6 weeks for design, painting and varnishing. If you have a fixed delivery date – for example for an anniversary, an opening or an event – please let us know as early as possible with your enquiry so that we can plan completion accordingly.
Both are possible. We are happy to put you in touch with one of our Berlin artists, who have been designing Buddy Bears for years – or you can commission an artist or agency of your choice. In either case, Buddy Bear Berlin reviews the final motif design before painting to ensure the artistic standard and the design guidelines are met.
Company logos, brand logos, website addresses or advertising slogans directly on the sculpture itself are not permitted – Buddy Bears are works of art, not advertising displays. What is possible, however: corporate identity colours in the artistic design, as well as your name and company logo on a separate plaque on the base plate. This preserves the artistic character of the sculpture while still giving your company a clearly recognisable presence.
Yes. After painting, all sculptures are sealed with a two-component clear coat, which makes them weather-resistant for many years. For outdoor installation we also recommend a 140 kg concrete slab for secure anchoring; a fixed ground anchoring is also possible. For indoor installation, a lighter steel plate is entirely sufficient. With regular cleaning using a soft cloth and clear water, your Buddy Bear will stay looking good for a long time.
The price depends on the size of the sculpture (1 m or 2 m), the complexity of the motif, the artist's fee and the installation details you require, such as a base or anchoring. As a guide: 1-metre bear: €3,800–5,800 (net), 2-metre bear: €6,700–9,800 (net). As every project is individual, we do not publish fixed price lists. For projects with several sculptures – such as a series of openings, a branch network or an embassy order – we offer personal project support, coordinated artist management and individual delivery logistics.
